This Week Ten Years Ago

The Week of 12/11/2005

Witty one liner: Eagles may fly high, but weasels don’t get sucked into jet engines!!

Quote of the week: “There are two ways of spreading light, to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” Edith Wharton.

Offbeat oddity (courtesy of the planner): A snail could crawl along a sharp edge without getting cut because its slime protects its body.

Also, apparently we had a snowday on the 16th which is freaking me out because 10 years later and there is not even a hint of snow in the forecast. People keep saying how nice the weather is and how wonderful this all is and all I think about is OUR PLANET IS DYING!!! THIS IS NOT WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE IN DECEMBER IN THE NORTHEAST!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?!?!?

As for the one liner, I used that one liner on a coworker recently. He was stunned and his suite mate was very congratulatory towards me for my perfect execution of it.

I really like this quote. I try most days to be a candle and spread my own light, but I also try to be the mirror so others can shine, too. Then there are the days when I try to be a black mirror. I do not have the energy to be my own light, but I can absorb the negative energy others are trying to spread.
