This Week Ten Years Ago

The Week of 3/26/2006

Witty one liner: Um?! You need to set sail on the reality boat now

Quote of the week: “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.” – Robert Frost.

Offbeat oddity (courtesy of the planner): Koalas are the only other animals besides humans and primates that have fingerprints.

Can we say truth? That is what that witty one liner is, absolute truth. I cannot tell you how many people I run into on a daily basis that I just want to shake until they get that the world does not revolve around them. Some days reality and its limits seem to be an abstract concept to everyone BUT me. Then again, who is to say that my reality is at all connected to actual reality and I am not the one that everyone is looking at and thinking “Damn girl, moor your ass and get on the fucking dock. This is not time for Michelle’s Fantasy Tour 4.0!”

Robert Frost was a smart man. Life (as a whole) does go on. Nothing can stop it forever. There will be moments where we think life could not possibly continue and that it is frozen in a moment in time, but eventually something breaks the spell (or curse) and we move forward. Sometimes all you can do is go on. The world seems against you, but you put your head down and keep pushing until things get better. As someone who tends to catastrophize, this is important for me to remember. To ask myself “what is the worst that could possibly happen?” and then keep moving on.

Man, koalas are weird, but at least we will know which one murdered the zookeeper!!
