There rose a Purple Creature –
That ravished all the Hill –

On October 29th in the not so distant past Michelle was born. She is the only person to ever be born on October 29th (at least that is what she thinks, please do not disillusion her, bad things might happen). She spent a happy childhood enslaved to her older sister, Persephone. One of the many tasks she was coaxed into performing at a young age by the beautiful tyrant was storytelling. Persephone demanded Michelle tell her story after story and Michelle always obliged.
This passion for hearing her own voice and recording the fantastic events that happen in her mind is what brought her to grad school in New York. She loves to write dramatic love stories that always turn out right, but is realizing there is more to write about and she wishes to improve her craft, write at least one successful novel that moves at least one person.
While she works on writing she has designed a scheme to take over the world through volunteer work and social justice initiatives. She is a fan of a variety of shows, movies, mangas, animes, and books. All in all she is a passionate individual who loves to write, but knows she is not yet at the level to be published. She is striving towards being at that level though.
Little Gentian 
You’d make a great super hero. Just keep writing – like drawing. That’s what I tell my little art students – keep at it and it will appear before your eyes like it was there all along. Blogging is a great step down the writing road.

Wow, thank you for that quote. It is beautiful. It’s nice to know that great writers struggle with their craft. Art is a tough road to follow because most of the time you have to build that road yourself and it requires a lot of confidence in your own abilities and support. You are most certainly welcome – many artists, many writers struggle, me included. That’s why a piece of my wall has inspirational Post its from all sorts of writers. Here’s another “a published author is just an amateur who didn’t quit”(sorry I can’t recall where I got that one from.)
The writing struggle is the passion, the vulnerability is the artist- that’s one I made up for myself.

I’ve never seen such an amazing blog on fiction. I am personally a fiction lover and this is one of my favorite blogs.
I didn’t understand the meaning of “little gentian” though.

“God made a little gentian” is a poem by Emily Dickinson. When I was in grade school I had to put together a “collection” of poems that represented me, my life, and my family. My sister recommended this poem to me and it has stuck with me since. You can google it and read it in full, it is short. What I take from the poem, and what my sister wanted me to see, is that we as people strive to be the conventional beauty. We try and mold ourselves into what we think is beautiful/cool/smart/interesting, but it’s not until we really come into our own, ourselves, that we bloom and become far more beautiful than anything society would want us to be, and then we “ravish all the hills.”
