Hi Everyone,
I struggled with whether or not to bring to attention the date, but seeing as how I live in NYC and many of my coworkers were here when the towers went down I just want to acknowledge it. I was in middle school when 9/11 happened, I can remember being brought to the gym with my classmates and held there until they made the decision to send us all home. My mom came home early from work and we sat in the living room watching the news loop through the same information with little changes each time as more information came through. I wrote down words that stuck out to me in a drawing notebook in colored pencils, circling ones that came up a lot or hit me the hardest.
One of my coworkers told me about how she worked in the financial district during 9/11 and her husband worked near the towers. She couldn’t get into Manhattan for work (she lives in another borough) and her husband went to her job and waited for her at her desk. When she finally got through to him on the phone he told her the entire office cheered.
My first year in NYC I lived on Williams Street off the Fulton Street stop. My beacon home for a year was the One World Trade Center which was under construction at the time. I could see it from the bus every time I came back from Syracuse and it was comforting. I went to the 9/11 Memorial with my ex and it was haunting.
So please remember all the people who didn’t make it out of the towers in time, the people on the planes, and all the rescue workers.

Hi Norris, I am glad you enjoyed the blog and that you took the time to comment. Unfortunately, I do not know a lot of blogs/websites/forums that cover the same subjects because I do post on such a wide variety of subjects. If you are looking for humor I really love and enjoy Hyperbole and a Half, Hark a Vagrant! both of which have recently been published. The Belle Jar has a lot of feminist and thought provoking posts that always make me think. I am actually a very bad blogger when it comes to reading other people’s blogs. Puneybones (hoosiersunshine13 is the blog) has some good stuff as well. I mostly read what my friends and family send me or I find on my tumblr or twitter. If you tell me which pieces you specifically enjoyed I might be able to point you in a more solid direction, be warned I might rattle off a bunch of books, too.

Hi Nicole, I don’t know if I will be doing a part 2 necessarily, but perhaps. I went to the 9/11 memorial again this past weekend and it was just as haunting and moving as it was the first time I was there. This time I got to see it more in its full glory than the first time when it was cordoned off and everyone needed a ticket to get in. If you are ever in NYC I recommend going down to the Financial District and walking through the memorial.

I do not know whether it’s just me or if everybody else experiencing issues with
your blog. It seems like some of the written text within your posts
are running off the screen. Can someone else please comment
and let me know if this is happening to them too?
This may be a issue with my web browser because I’ve had this

Hi Dorie, I find that when I view my blog on my smartphone (android) it will sometimes run off the screen, especially if I am looking at it in the WordPress App instead of online. I haven’t had too much trouble when using a desktop, but I will talk with my brother in-law and see what he has to say about it and if he has any solutions to make the website more user friendly. Thank you for bringing the issue up.
